So this year has been nuts, we know we know.
I thought I’d be playing a lot more hockey, helping build our learn-to-skate and learn-to-play hockey programs. But life threw a curveball and my wheels came with me.
When I realized the weeks were turning into months and it could be a while before RGV Roller and South Texas Inline Association would be able to host safe events or pick-up games I took to the streets.
Solo skates on my Powerslide Zoom 100s. Big wheels, big distance covered. It’s a blast to go fast.
But then something else caught my eye. Not something new….just something I never exposed myself to……aggressive inline skating/park skating (we’ll call it blading)
Blading is over 25-years-old. The early and mid-1990s saw an explosive of aggressive skating which are inline skates with large grind pads or soul plates to shred at skateparks similar to skateboarding…with skates on! The history is a story in itself…so stay tuned to future blog posts as we explore the history here in the Valley!
Aggressive inline skating lives on in the Valley! Thank you Damien for sharing this clip! 💪🏽
RGV Roller supports ALL types of skating. If you’ve ever wanted to learn aggressive or park skating it takes some balance, some bravery and some skill…but we all start somewhere!
Message us and we can get you in touch with some experienced shredders, hockey players or just those of us looking for a cruise.

There is even a roller-skating equivalent which also includes stalls on ledges and coping and grind plates for quad skaters.
Pablo Castro put together a cool cool clip of the skaters, the bladers and the bikers at the park. Peep it!
Here is my first video edit after a long while. Hope yall like it more to come. Here are the people involved:Crystal HernandezJosie Pineda Shipleys Marco SkagKim DracCarlos SolisAngela Rebollozo SmallsCarmen Castillo

I’m having a blast because it’s challenging, it looks so cool to see talented bladers post clips on Instagram and I really want to progress on blades. I’m close to that frontside, clip coming sooooon.
I’m able to learn at my own pace I’m able to spend time at a park alone and if there’s a crowd I can wear a mask and stay away. I’m able to feel comfortable and get after it.
AND it’s a heck of a workout. Let me tell you! Once you’re jumping with both feet and trying to hold difficult stances your core will be on FIRE.
Let me drop some more clips from some of the bladers and skaters I’ve gotten to know over the last couple of months.
RGV Roller is happy to support aggressive inline skaters. Send us your clips and we can share them on our social media pages and as we grow we’re hoping to be able to provide goodies that will help you stay hydrated, stay waxed and stay fresh at the parks.
Let’s get it!
P.S. in the next blog I’ll list the location of parks around the Valley if you’ve been trying to get out there!
